bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 6, 2008 2008 corked bottle. Pale golden color. Huge foamy head. Peach, just a hint of soap and flowers in the aroma. Alcoholic, soapy firm flowery, slightly perfumed hopbitter flavor with some citrus. The soapiness continues in the aftertaste. Not bad overall, but a tad disappointing. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 4, 2008 Lightly hazed golden liquid. Nice continuance of bubbles through the brew. Large, lasting off-white head. Sweet malt, light fruit and quite a bit of alcohol showing up in the aromas. Some floral hops are present and quite enjoyable. The alcohol in the nose is just a bit too much at times. Strong and sweet are my first thought coming out of the first quaff. Licorice (not a personal favorite) and light fruit of pears and bananas are the flavors that I catch the most of. A bit of yeast, but in a white bread kind of way. My stomach and forehead are starting to feel warm. Sweet vinous qualities in the finish and into the linger. I know the "Blauw" version is always better with a year or two, I’m not sure with this one. The sweetness and alcohol are quite high now. I’m thinking this could become a sticky mess. But I’m thinking I’ll need to set one down for an experiment. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Opens with a "POP". Pours well carbonated, clear gold with a huge active white head. Spicy, floral aroma with notes of banana and C02. Crisp for strength and sharp with green apple and a spiciness that compliments but is not easy to identify. Finishes hot. The alcohol really comes out as it warms. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 Yellow pour wtih a fair white head. Aroma isvery sweet and malty. Flavor is malt heavy, sweet and if anyone really wants to know the flavor of this beer, please contact my friend Nick Wight and he will be happy to give you the details! Anyway a very nice beer, a bit grainy in flavor to be world class, but very nice. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours gold into a trappist glass. Bright white micro head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes to coat the surface. Sharp malt and alcohol aromas. Sweet and full with belgian yeast and apple with a lasting pepper and alcohol burn. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 The aroma is clean and sweet with yeast, light fruit, and alcohol. The appearance is pale gold with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall a winner. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 Smells heavily herbed like rosemary, malts with many fruits, the hoppiness is more on the subtle side, while the focus is more on the rich malts and the heavy body of the beer, great beer. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 28, 2008 Had it from Bottle in Belgium and from draft at Cheeky Monk at Denver. From draft it was delicious. Was the only Belgium beer I drunk during my trip to Denver and Boulder
