750 ml. bottle. Corked and caged. No freshness date noticed. Loud pop released the cork. Poured out a hazy yellow color, like dried out straw. Has a foamy off white head. Aromas are of spices, pepper, dried lemon rinds. Flavors are of rotten pineapples, over ripe apples, dried, sulfured apricots. Some malts mix in, but this beast needs some serious aging on it to be well blended. Might be good in 5-6 years or so. Finished dry, funky, and sulfurous.

[Bottle] Pours a clear gold with a large, fluffy white head. Aroma is citric hoppiness, a little bit of spices, some candi sugar, and a little bit of alcohol. Flavor follows nicely, with the spices and alcohol being prominent players. Fairly sweet but not cloying. Sharp, crisp flavor with a little bit of hop bitterness on the finish.

2008. Golden pour with a thick white head. Muted spice aroma, candy sugar, & citrus. A nice balanced aroma. Comes across the palate strong with a grassy & bready. Has a mild finish that tends to dissipate quickly.

A good beer but probably the least impressive I have had from Het Anker. Light, mild aroma with malt, standard Gouden Carolous yeast, and sea salt. A little sweet but balanced by a surprising quantity of hops. There is an herbal character as well. Bitter, salty finish. High abv is well hidden.
