anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Mar 9, 2009 Draft @ Toronado, SF. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a longlasting white head. Has a malty spicy yeasty aroma with some hints of dark fruits. Sweetish malty spicy yeasty flavor with hints of dark fruit. Has a warming malty spicy yeasty finish. hallinghansen (263), Odense SV, Denmark Mar 7, 2009 2008 bottle. Clear golden body, with a large white head. Aroma is fruit and alcohol. Flavor is fruit, candy sugar, alcohol and spices. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Mar 5, 2009 750ml bottle; monster white head with a tint of cream; slight hop and fruit aroma; big alcohol taste in the back; made me feel as if I was drinking liqueur; got a little better as the temperature increased; another slow drinking beer for me. (#11) MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Mar 3, 2009 Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle (2008 vintage) and served in a tulip. This beer poured a pale straw yellow with a light cloudiness and a two-finger thick head of off-white foam that slowly settled. A small amount of slippery lacing was left around the glass. The aroma included a whiff of fresh grassy hops, spicy yeast, light sugar, and floury dry bread. The hops were not as prominent in the flavor. Just a light grassiness. The flavor was moderately sweet with a fair amount of sugar and a lingering herbal sweetness. Also a bit yeasty and bready along with some light pear notes. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied and had a moderate amount of lively carbonation. It starts off with a nice aroma, but the sweetness starts to become mildly annoying. Not really my thing. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Feb 20, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Gold in color and hazy with a large white head. Aroma is of alcohol and fruit with a little cream and marshmallow. Taste is of alcohol, malt, and spices. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 15, 2009 On tap at Ebenezers. Cuvee de Emperor Blonde. Pours a mostly clear golden with a thinning head and not much lace. Aroma is spicy, sharp phenolic Belgian yeast- with spicy green floral hops with other grassy herbs- nettle and cardamon? Flavor has a nice doughy bready pils malt backbone some ok sweetness with toast and crackers, herbal grassy hops more cardamon black pepper spice and almost a hot mace spice as well- big sweet malt body in the middle, - pils malt and light carapils- peppery and yeasty in the finish. tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Feb 12, 2009 750 mL bottle, 2008. Pours golden with a gigantic off-white head with some of the most solid lacing I’ve ever seen. The aroma has a nice orange-blossom note at the fore, with some honeyish malt and some floral hops. The flavor is very orangey with lots of sweet malts behind it. There are lots of floral nuances throughout, and a warm, yeasty finish. The alcohol is evident, but not intrusive. Not bad. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 10, 2009 On tap at the Brick Store.
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a huge pillowy white head that stays on as a cap for ages and leaves very good lacing.
Light sweet aroma with light fruits and hints of spices on top. There is plenty of Belgian yeast and bubble gum sweetness as well with a bit of citrus.
The taste is slightly sweeter than the aroma with lots of light sweetness featuring apples and pears. The Belgian yeast forms a solid backbone with a slightly dry finish with some citrus hops.
The moutfeel is fairly light with tons of carbonation and lots of sticky sweetness throughout.
This isn’t the biggest or most complex Belgian pale but it’s extremely drinkable. Recommended.
