Tall almost fizzy but dense white head leaves a nice sticky gossamer lacing as it fades away. Nose is very herbal, floral and spicy. Lots of earthy and perfumy flowers, herbs, spices, strong yeast, fruit, and grains. Taste is more herbs and spices, strong yeast notes, grains, dried and candied fruits, fresh cut flowers, and sweet malts. Parts of this are candy-like in sweetness while other kick is with slight hop bitterness and an odd herbal flavor. Body is uber-carbonated. Lots of belching from just one glass. Overall and light-medium feel and this seems a tad on the thinner side for a Belgian strong. Finishes with more grains, sweet malt notes, earthy and herbal flavors, flowers, soft hop bitterness, light fruit, and alcohol. Big beer. More a winter type for me. Nonetheless, this was rather delicious. kp (8600), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Marcipan aroma, yeasty, fruity and a bit sugary. Maricpan flavor, floral and with some alcohol. The blue one is so much better... Palidor19 (1798), Brandon, Florida, USA

Poured clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate malt, yeast and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium complex sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
My expectations where met with an above average brew.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Very effervescent, hazy gold pour, with a well-sustained, foamy head - strong herbal character hits the nose first, followed by a little earthy must, banana, honey - starts off dry and herbal, becoming almost soapy, with some hop bitterness behind it, and a bit of a peppery quality - gets a bit sweet after this, giving the impression of herb-infused honey - a bit fruity, with some bubble gum-ish character, reminding me somewhat of Juicy Fruit, which is a little bit of a turn off - some alcohol heat and more peppery spice in the finish - it wants to be light and refreshing, but its high alcohol content won’t let it, resulting in a golden ale that is a little too sweet (with a touch too much alcohol) to be completely enjoyable - it ain’t no Blau, but it’s not all bad. bb (2976), Martinez, California, USA
