Bottle. Pours a golden orange body with a white fluffy head. Loaded to the brim with carbonation and yet none is lost in the body of the beer. Fruity aroma of apples and dark fruits. Etoh latent fruit with some light spices. Chewy mouth feel more like plum and candy sweet but somewhat subdued by the high carbonation. A light almost cinnamon character but i feel this is again the tremendous level of carbonation. A delicious belgian ale.

Appearance: Pours a clear, blonde body with a very tall, very white head. Smell: Sweet-smelling, phenolic, a bit boozy, and simply chock full of rich fruitiness. Plenty of spice and fresh herbs as well. Pinch of yeast. Taste: Sweet, sugary maltiness mixed with a herbal gentian taste, star anise, dried orange peel, and heavy-handed dose of pepper and spices. Fairly phenolic throughout. Fruity flavors of white grapes, peaches, green apples, and under-ripe plums. Minor hint of vanilla upon warming. Oh, and a big wallop of booze near the end. Candi sugar taste perks up now and again. Finishes dry and warming with a lingering mingling of perfumy, grapefruity components. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Well carbonated. Drinkability: It’s certainly not subtle, as there’s tons going on here. A bit alcoholic initially, but once it starts coursing through your system you learn to live with it, even enjoy it, and focus on the expressive fruit character and punchy phenols. Still though, I’d stick with the blue, babies!

[EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Cloudy amber color. Aroma of heavy dried fruit, Sherry, toffee, yeast, citrus. Over the palate came mild spice and again strong notes of fruit and maybe a hint of hops. Quite full bodied with an average carbonation and thick alcoholic texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavor with a hint of bitter and acidic notes. Warming alcoholic and prune juice sweet finish.

2008 Bottle. Pours with a huge, creamy white head and a clear, but very fizzy golden body. Good lacing, and full retention. Aroma of dried fruits, pears and yeasty spiciness. Taste is sweet with elements of pear, yeast and spices. Lively carbonation and a dryish mouthfeel. Decently warming.

750 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a golden color with a big white head that has good lacing. The aroma is sweet and fruity, with pears, peaches, banana and apples. The taster is similarly fruity with added floral flavors, mild spices and just a touch of alcohol. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long and dry. Overall: A very enjoyable winter warmer.
