It's golden blond colour, it's high alcohol concentration of 10 %, it's full and balanced taste make this beer into a source of vitality and strength which will appeal to the demanding beer taster. For ideal tasting pour out gently in one pull to a temperature round 7-8° C. Served with pride it is drunken with respect. Bottle from Whole Foods, poured into tulip glass. Pours a clear golden color with a thin, fizzy head. Aroma is of confectionary sugar, dried fruits, herbs, and spices. Flavor is also sweet, but notably spicy. Medium/light bodied with lively carbonation.

750 ml bottle via codfishh (Thanks!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BBD 24/06/2017.

App.: Deep deep golden with a fair off-white head. Aroma: Alcohol, solvent, citrus, coriander, some esters, sweet and doughy, floral notes, bread, honey, mostly nice. Palate: Medium+ body, full, rounded carbonation. Flav.: Sweet and floral with some citrus notes, pleasant esters, noticeable alcohol, bread and bread dough, lightly spicy/phenolic, perfumed; sweet with limited bitterness, a bit of pucker and a boozy, floral honey finish.

Nice beer. I prefer the Blauw.

11.2 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Newport News, VA. Yellowish-orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is interesting and certainly alcohol-forward with notes of Earth and spices. The taste is more balanced and less vague with ginger and white pepper, Belgian yeast, and light citrus. Alcohol is detected in both the taste and warmth. A good Belgian strong but it should not be confused for the "Blue" version of this beer.

75 cl. bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Hazy, golden colour with a big, fluffy white head. Sweet aroma with fruits - apricot, oranges and citrus. Yeasts, spices and a subtle warmth from alcohol. Taste is sweet. Full body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Long lasting sweet finish with a rich fruitiness, spices, yeasts and warmth from alcohol. Excellent, rich Belgian.

Opaque golden bier with a beautiful white head, nice carbonation and some bubbles. Smell is subtle leather, pears, hint of cherries, caramel, alcohol. Maybe dried orange peels. Taste is bitter sweet, with quite an alcohol presence. Fizzy, and fruity. Bitter fimish. Subtle wood.

Bottle shared in the park with Martin on a sunny day. Hazy Gold with a White head. Yeasty, peppery aroma. Full flavoured. Stewed fruit and typical Belgian white pepper vibe. Delicious really. I’m a big fan of Gouden Carolus.

Bottle shared by KyotoLefty 2008 vintage. Nice soft gold pour. A sweet fruity balanced nose. The taste is fruity & a touch grainy, very solid but past it’s prime. By this point in the evening my palate was fairly shot due to tons of sour beers...

2008 bottle. Nose of apples, honey and biscuits. Deep blond, hazy, with floaties. Touch of pear in the flavor, apple, good tartness to balance the honey and biscuit sweetness. No hops left at all. Oxidized, but still in very nice shape.

Bottle from Bier Tempel. Pours a bright golden colour, medium carbonation, thin bubbly foam. Very pleasant, fruity hit. Slightly sweet, pear, peach. Hint of spice. Just enough bitterness. Drinks very easily for 10%. Lovely with food, and pretty good on its own.
