Bottle from 5K backlog. Pours light brown. Off white head leaves a nice sheen on the glass. Nose and taste of plum, fruit cake, creamed dark fruits, bready malt, caramel and sweet malt. Medium body.

Dark brown beer with a small beige head. Strong anis on the nose. Full body and soft and round mouth feel. Anis, sweet liquorice and herbs in the flavor, also dark, ripe and sugary dried fruits. Some bitterness in the after taste. Quite a good easter beer with its anis flavor.

Corked and wired 0.5 L bottle ordered from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk (10.5% abv). Tall and foamy, lightly tanned head. Body is dark brown with a ruby glow. A sweet scent of dark dried fruits. Raisines, dates and prunes comes to mind. Sweet-flavored as well. More dark dried fruits, with burnt caramel and molasses in addition. Gently hopped. Big body. A light alcohol warmth in the ending. Went well with the easter lamb. [30.03.13]

Beautiful looking beer, dark mahogany in color with a nice sized bubbly white head. Aroma is more subtle than I expected with light notes of spruce, licorice, and spicy yeast. Very nice. Taste is exquisite. Pine, anise, molasses, even a hint of nutmeg over top a nice malt base full of boozey warmth. Very sticky, bittersweet finish. Very intriguing beer!

Draught. This is a delicious viscous brew with lots of candy sugar sweetness, dark fruits, and layered complexity.

Nice spicy ale, lots of liquorice in aftertaste. Quite dry and a bit "alcoholic".

750 ml C&C bottle served in a Funkwerks snifter. Consumed on Easter Sunday. A gift from my fiancee’s mother. A: Pours a murky dark brown color with a light khaki head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves sticky sheets of lace down the glass. S: Rum raisins and some brown sugar. Wet oak with boozy dark fruit. Pretty sweet malt bill as well, slightly bready. T: Pale cracker malts. Pretty sweet with some brown sugar. Dark fruits, figs and raisins, with some spicy Belgian fruitiness. Wet oak as well. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation level. Sweet and spiced finish. O: Nicely made Dark Ale. Not my favorite style, however, and I probably wouldn’t revisit if I was given the opportunity. Serving type: bottle
