COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is brewed once a year to commemorate Easter. It is a golden ale that is rich, full bodied and full of flavor and life. This ale was brewed and intended to drink with Easter dinner. This special brew may be laid down, it will increase in complexity and balance as years pass.
Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is the most limited production brew from the Het Anker brewery. Only 2000 cases are brewed each year.

The 2010 edition is a Dark Brown Ale at 9% ABV.
The 2011+ edition states Golden Ale on the label but is also a Dark Brown Ale at 10% ABV.

From bottle at home. Colour is dark brown and the head is thin. The taste is quite sweet with some liquorice.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel aroma with weak hints of dark fruit. Sweetish malty spicy caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy caramel finish.

Amber coloured and clear. Has an off-white head, medium duration. Sweet aroma, notes of anise. Flavor is sweet, notes of anise, malty sweet, faint bitter finish.

February 14, 2015. Bottle at home, bottled february 15, 2013.
Deep ruby red with a creamy yellowish head. Aroma is raisins, caramel, alcohol, licorice and spices. Taste is very sweet with dried fruits and caramel and licorice. Finish is sweet malty, with spicy notes. Medium to full bodied, average carbonation.

750 ml bottle 2013 vintage. Pours a deep mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of candi sugar, cough syrup, anise, raisins and other dried dark fruit. Flavors of dark sugar, roasted malts, dark fruit, citrus peel and nicely balanced spice. A great Belgian.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. BB date 15/02/2013. ABV is 10.5%. Beautiful chestnut colour, huge beige head. Aroma of brown kandij sugar, caramel and spices, including anise. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma. Minimal hops. Skip the anise please, and I might buy the beer again.

Smaksprøve ombord på Fridtjofen: lett uklar, brunlig og med kort beige skum. Aroma og smak av mørk malt, svisker og noe lett brent og syrlig. Mild bitterhet også i ettersmaken. Ufrisk.
