Golden color, good creamy white head. Licorice, honey and fruits in the aroma. Foamy carbonation. Quite typical Het Anker flavors: licorice, sweet sugary-fruity maltyness. Alcohol is there but only to warm up nicely. Lightly spicey aftertaste. Balanced, but maybe even improves with ageing. Another goodie from this great brewery.

Jul 3, 2007 Bottled. Clear golden, airy head. Grassy nose with yeast induced esters and fruit. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel and a firm maltiness. Warming with restrained malt sweetness. Quality all the way throug to slighlt salty finish. Somewhere raspberries fits in. I could never have guessed this beer is 10.5%.

Jul 1, 2007 (750ml bottle) Medium beige head that quickly dissipates, atop hazy apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, alcohol/cognac, light butter. Taste is moderately sweet, boozy, straw/hay, Belgian yeast, orange, light lemon. Effervescent medium-full body.

Jun 30, 2007 (Bottled) Pretty hazy golden with a small, but lasting head. Very fruity, yeasty aroma with honeyish malt and alcohol. Quite acidic and alcoholic flavor, although quite a bit smoother with yeast. Medium-bodied, acidic, slightly foamy palate. Ok, but disappointing compared to other Carolus lineup.

The flavor is fruity, with dried fruits, some wheat-like notes, candisugar, alcohol and some cellar. Full body, quite warming. Sweet, lightly spiced finish with some alcohol. A lovely, warming, darngerously drinkable beer. (070512)
