draft @ redlight redlight, label on keg reads "Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Kaiser Rood". Some banana esters, floral with hints of alcohol in the nose. Pours golden blonde with a thick white head. Sweet malts, sugar, hints of caramel, candy sugar, with some spicy characters in the flavor. Very spicy finish, classic gouden carolus flavors. Great beer!

Pours a cloudy pale golden with a medium white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is moderately sweet, alcohol, cognac, buttery and some dough. Flavor is sweet, straw, hay, typical Belgian yeast, orange and light lemon. Medium to full body, sticky texture. Finishes long and grainy sweet.

750ml bottle at Rhino in westend Toronto. Murky gold ale with an off-white quickly thinning head. Sweet yeasty aroma. Bubbly, sweet, yeasty, warm, tasty. Packs a punch. Sweeter version of Duvel. Glad I tried it, hope to try it again.

Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours a hazy orange with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma’s sweet and sugary but in a good way, it’s not overly sweet. Also some fruit and faint hops in there. Flavour’s also sweet along with alcohol, floral hops, caramel malt and Belgian yeast. Medium bodied. Sweet but not cloying, which is difficult to do -- this is good stuff!

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, jerc, mabel & tupalev - my bottle. Clear dark golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet oranges and tropical fruit, some candi sugar, faint herbal notes. Medium bodied with a perfect level of carbonation. Flavour is sweet and fruity, with notes of pineapple and yeast, a bit of spice, and orange and herbs in the finish. As others note, it manages to be quite sweet without being cloying. Very good!

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, GregClow, Blankboy, Mabel, and Jerc, courtesy of Greg (thanks for sharing this one Greg!). Dark yellow, creamy white head. Strong sweet aroma, very sweet, almost cotton candy like. Taste is strong and very sweet. More cotton candy like sweetness, this treads a fine line - sometimes these can get cloying in a hurry but this on works and is very drinkable, partly because of the medium perfectly carbonated body. And partly because I just plain liked it. Good stuff.
