yespr (5348), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 15, 2008 75 cL bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a thick off-white head. Light spiced towards plastic aroma. Flavour is sweet and with yeasty phenol notes. Mild caramel malt base. Something with the phenol notes disturbs me - not good.
AllAboutStout (386), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pours a dark amber color with a nice frothy half inch head. Smell is very spicy and earthy. Taste is much the same, but I’m getting a bit of lemon and some sort of mineral flavor as well. I don’t know, but I know this is a good beer. Very creamy and easy drinking. Also a bready, biscuity like quality as well. Way too easy drinking to be over 10%. Gouden Carolus does nothing but make standout beers. Marsiblursi (1248), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 19, 2008 (Bottle) Pours dark hazy amber. The aroma is of fruits, spices - coriander and white pepper, toasty malt with notes of caramel, peppery grassy and light floral hops. Some orange peel. The flavour is spicy with coriander up front but also some fruits alongside toasty and bready malt. Hints of hops and orange peel. Silky and full mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied. Slayer85 (419), Firenze, Italy Jun 15, 2008 750 ml bottle. A cloudy light amber beer with a medium sized fading white head. The aroma is quite malty with some fruitiness (banana, dried fruits), some spiciness and notes of honey. More than a touch of alcohol. in the nose. The flavour is very sweet and again very honeysh and alcoholic, not totally balanced, but enough pleasant. Lightly hoppy flavour. Full body, lively carbonation, sweet long finish with some bitterness and some alcohol. Too much honeysh for my palate, but a good beer. My last favourite from Het Anker so far. mabel (1246), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 [1228-20080328] 750mL bottle. Lightly spicy bandaid and floral sweetness aroma. Hazy, light brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Spicy yeast flavour has a thickly sour floral base. Medium body. Interesting to try but not great.

Overheard: "Smells like bunnies..." "Smells like pink bunny eyes..." "Smells like peeps..." Indra (1808), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 14, 2008 750ml bottle. Strongly perfumed and sweet aroma, floral and spicy with notes of honeysuckle, pear, white grape, melon, dried herbs and a touch of faint, peppery alcohol. Deep golden color with a lasting, creamy, white head. Flavor is hugely malty and sweet, with a large dosage of spices and estery yeast, followed by a moderately bitter, gently alcoholic and lengthy finish. Some lingering warmth and spicy bitterness late. Effervescent and lightly acidic on the palate, body is almost richly full. Rather subtle complexity keeps this one together.
