COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blond rich beer that is brewed each year during the easter period. It contains several types of malt and during brewing 3 herbs are added.
This pleasant golden blond beer is chosen for he who loves a richer, somewhat spicy and refreshing beer.

Disclaimer: This entry is for the vintages from Gouden Carolus Easter Beer from 2007 to 2009 onwards. Before it was a dark beer. In 2007 the recipe changed to a blond beer.

Bottle, courtesy kiefdog. Thick cloudy copper pour, thick white head and thick lacing. Boozy nose, apricot, peach and plum, banana, and some caramel. Creamy caramel flavors, some dark fruits, some cocoa and licorice, finishes boozy. Full-bodied, not too drinkable because of the heat. But interesting.

Note: 5/10

Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of fruit, and some other hints, maybe some spices, maybe caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and a hint of hops with a nice bittersweet finish.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 (750ml Vintage ). I passed out on a solitary 750ml this one after sessioning some dull IPA’s all night;
A bright aroma ...hop florals, spices , and its pretty damn rich , as the maltiness kisses your nose ....
A good honest Belgian Strong , a 4 beer score all night... dry on first sip , then a trapdoor toward robust 10% booze I payed for. Cloying sweetness in boozy accents =suggesting caramel , wood, then the complex twist toward fragrance ...and fruity oranges and spice, justa a little licorice ...
My kinda thang...

First off - not a blond beer. This one is marked 10.5% and best by of 2014.

Pours a dark, dark ruby. Almost opaque if not for the light behind the glass. Smells of caramel, burnt sugar, spicy, bananas, and malt. Tastes of cloves and banana cream pie, malt and caramel. Alcohol warmth in the mouth. Sweetness left behind each swallow. Very good beer for easter, albeit a bit strong. But I won’t ding it for that.

Little cloudy brown beer, small light beige head, unstable and somewhat adhesive. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, ripe banana, general fruitiness. MF: good carbon, full body. Taste: rip bananas, fruity, caramel, a little hoppy. Aftertaste: little sour and citric, still more banana, some caramel.

(bottle, 75cl) Cloudy, dark brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with notes of candy, berry-fruits, liquorice, thyme and peppery spices. Sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Rich and complex malty taste with a cornucopia of flavours; sweet hearty malty and etherally spicy finish. A complex brew. 02.III.11

Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, medium-sized - and slowly collapsing - off-white foamy layer; sweet nutty-fruity nose backed by some peppery spices; solid sweet flavour, a light tart acidity detectable, too; nutty and malty flavours in the caramelly-fruity finish. Good one.....
