Blond rich beer that is brewed each year during the easter period. It contains several types of malt and during brewing 3 herbs are added.
This pleasant golden blond beer is chosen for he who loves a richer, somewhat spicy and refreshing beer.

Disclaimer: This entry is for the vintages from Gouden Carolus Easter Beer from 2007 to 2009 onwards. Before it was a dark beer. In 2007 the recipe changed to a blond beer.

2010 drink by. So I guess it is a 2007 bottle. Filthy deep gold, very cloudy, going to brown, with a low head. Big, malty nose, honey, biscuits, sweet orange and herbs. Luscious malt flavor, honey and citrus, bread and biscuits, apple, ripe pears, alcohol, spices. Much depth. Huge, full, silky palate but with just enough carbonation. Much fuller and complex flavor than any aged blonde I have had in years.

Bottle shared with BBGTC. bf feb. 2010. Pours a clearing golden body with a medium White top. Aroma of candy, yeast, banana and alcohol. Taste is mostly sweet with fairly high amounts of oxidation and estery yeast notes. Body is medium to full with high co2 levels.

Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a clear light amber body with a small white head. Nose is tequila (!), caramel, banana, biscuits, mild raisins and hints of butterscotch, grains and red fruits. Taste is strange, sweet and reminiscent of a kind of candy known as "Smurfedrops" in Norway. Banana, white sugars, raisins and various dark, almost synthetic fruits. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Weird, but somehow enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2015 04.10.2014, 0,75l bottle (2007 vintage) shared with friends: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, dried fruits, yeast, bubblegum, banana, honey, hay, candied sugar. Taste is slightly sweet, candied sugar, hay, yeast, almond essence, honey, heather, alcohol, caramel, paper, dried fruits, hints of banana. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, not bad for being this old...

2009 bottle consumed in 2011. Light yellow orange pour with big white head. Aroma of Belgian banana wheat and slight hay. Taste was again a very mundane banana and herb thing which just didn’t do it for me. Slight oxidation.

Aromas are bubblegum and mellow berries with soft spices and lots of herbal notes. Some burnt caramel. Flavours are softy berries with some chocolate malts. Medicinal and herbal with cola and brown sugar. Toffee with some aniseed. Sticky ripe pear and earthy hops.

Note: 5/10

Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of fruit, and some other hints, maybe some spices, maybe caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and a hint of hops with a nice bittersweet finish.
