Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

BOTTLE 33 CL. Hazy golden, creamy ivory head. Big apricot aroma - both fresh and dried, some corn? The taste has a pretty big honey pale sweetness with notes of tart fruit, balanced and died up by a pretty strong bitterness with quite a bit of alcohol in it. Some corn grits here and there. Quite nice, maybe too boozy.

Tasted on 5/4/16 from a capped 330mL bottle purchased at Frugal. Pours hazy pale orange with a thick, smooth white head that slowly recedes to thick lace. The nose is sweet candi and honey malt with some light bread, a touch of earthy yeast, and very light hops spice. The flavor is a fairly sweet honey attack, moving to some light bitterness and the same yeasty character from the nose, and finishing with more candi sugar sweetness. The body is nearly full with very lively carbonation, and a medium honeyed and lightly bitter finish.

Draft at the Quad Alehouse for my birthday. Decent head. Aroma were classic spicy/fruity Belgian. Hoppy flavors gave it that difference they were looking for. No bad

UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 Bionda, torbida, bel cappello di schiuma bianca pannosa. Aroma interessante di lievito, agrumi, banana e frutta. Carbonazione medio alta. Bevuta per nulla pesante nonostante un buon grado alcolico. Malto, frutta, una discreta nota amara su una base dolce. Piacevole.

Good one overall, not especially remarkable as it lacks what makes the Classic and Tripel so great, but still a very decent beer. APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW !

Really good strong Belgian beer: alcohol is nicely masked around fruity notes with hints of coriander. Aftertaste is just perfect, not too bitter, but still full of hops. Looks and feels like it should!

Robe jaune abricot et opaque. La mousse et épaisse et tient bien, un voile crème se forme en dessous. Arômes agrumes, fruits jaunes. Goût résines, agrumes, banane. On reste sur les esters de banane. Texture crémeuse. Excellent.

On tap at Brunzies (5/1/15). Resiny dank hop and tropical fruit aromas, sweet and musky. Very nice aroma. Medium amber golden clear with thin head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts with tropical fruit sweetness, apricots and mango. Resinous and sharp dank quality to it, too. Big sweetness followed by bit bitterness. Big flavorful bitter finish and sweet bitter after.

Fine aroma banana, fenol. Clear pale, with a stable head. Fine carbonisation, coriander and banaan are the first you taste. Second taste is slight hopbitter, alcohol and a soft sweet and smoky ending. Well balanced, fizzy carbonation witch leaves a long aftertaste.

Kein Bier für mich. Schmeckt mir zu sehr nach Weizen (obwohl keines drin ist :-) ). Farbe ist heller als Bernstein, eher orange, Gold. Stark prickelnd, sehr viel Schaum beim Eingießen ins Glas. Geruch: fruchtig, Äpfel.
