Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

Bottle. Golden-amber quite clear beer. Huge white and fluffy foam, very persistent. Nice perlage. Medium size bubbles. Very sweet both nose and taste. Fruty and malty notes more than hop which is quite hidden but present. Very strong presence of alcohol. The sweetness lays toward mawkishness. Medium-full body, well carbonated

Pretty awesome beer. I’ve always thought that most European breweries have a difficulty in competing with American breweries in hop forward brews, but this proves me wrong somewhat. Hazy golden pour with big fluffy white head. Aroma is very similar to a triple, melon and citrus notes, a bit spicy. Fruity flavor, with bubble gum and cotton candy notes, along with an impressive, spicy, hop profile the is bitter but not extremely so. Mouthfeel is soft, and the finish is dry and refreshing. Very impressive brew.

Was able to try on tap and in bottle
Tap - Pours hazy yellow / orange with a nice whitish head. The aroma has blonde ale style malt, bit musty with slight earthy hops - decent. Medium body with gentle soft carbonation. The flavor starts with aroma traits, but is far hoppier with earthy, piny and floral hop notes that are nice. Almost like Houblon-lite. The finish has lingering hoppiness and a Belgium twang (7/3/8/4/16 - 3.8)
Bottle - Pours pale yellow with a large white head. The aroma is musty blonde ale malt and lots of hops that are piny, earthy and floral. There is an overall earthiness to everything. Medium / light body with lots of sharp carbonation. The taste is quite bold and is much sweeter and hoppier than it is on tap. The taste has everything from the aroma, but adds significantly more hops. The finish has a bit of maple syrup sweetness and harsh hops. Very nice beer ( 8/3/8/3/16 - 3.8)

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Soft golden amber pour. Tall fluffy white head. Nose is very perfumy and floral with strong spicy and yeast notes. Lots of hops notes in the aroma. The hops continue from the first sip to the last. More yeast and spice notes here as well. Bitter but not extreme. Some fruit coming through other than citrus. Soft melon, hints of pear and some candied notes. There’s some herbal, almost minty like flavors in spots as well. Body is strongly carbonated and very bubbly. Bordering on creamy bit the bubbles have too much of an impact. Overall feel is leaning towards medium. Ends with more floral hops, strong citrus, Belgian yeast, grains, dried fruit, candy, and spices. Tasty!

A lovely, frothy, dandelion hued pour with a mountainous rocky foam. Crushed red pepper, almond pastry, soft coriander, pungent clove and a gorgeous mist of floral-herbal hops in the aroma; the spiciness, the sweetness, and the bitterness delicately woven together, and each soft as silk. It couldn’t be further from quiet, though; it’s like a garden of grain and sharp herbs and flowers that’s presently blossoming all at once.

Lemongrass, lavender, and coriander flavor; each with a candied kind of smooth sweetness on it. Fresh grass. Pistachio-leaning malt. Cotton candy. It tends to get somewhat musky with the interaction of herbal-tinted hops, yeasts and its considerable alcohol, and while this is a likable characteristic, it dulls the brightness of the hops somewhat. The sweetness it offers in the middle is quite crispy and autumnal, like lavender and fire-roasted chestnuts, and gloriously dry while still sumptuous in impression. Consistent shades of fruit tend to be soft and sunny; white peaches is what it makes me think of most often.

Full and effervescent texture at first, becoming somewhat more lean toward the finish, where a lovely saffron and floral perfume dryness spreads out, leaving a soft bittersweetness that while dry remains quite flavorful and memorable even long after. Every element is in place for a refreshing, but fulsome and interesting at every turn experience. A new favorite!

750 ml. A gusher that’s a hazy pear-orange color. Medium-sized, sticky head lasts with nice lace. Wheat and bubblegum aroma. Flavor is fruit bubblegum and wheat with a peppery citrus, evergreen resin and pear-bubblegum finish. Light-medium body is astringently dry, slightly alcohol warming and too frothy-bubbly.
