Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy pale golden body with a large white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of celery, salt and lime. Flavour of grapefruit, mandarin and funky yeast. Medium body with a spritzy mouthfeel. Very fizzy. Sharp and fruity.

Pours hazy with a lot of head, that does not diminish quite quickly. Aroma is not quite pungent. It firstly resembles a good hopped lager beer aroma. Some sweet notes can be found. Taste is strongly sweet at first, but the taste quickly switches to mildly sour due to the present hops, and finishes dry, just like you would expect from a hopped beer. Pretty carbonated. Quite well balanced.

Cloudy yellow with fine old-newspaper-colored head that fades moderate-slowly to thin attractive film. Aroma is huge apple juice, slightly vinous, touch of honey. Yum!! Body is medium-to-medium-light oily-watery, light carbonation but with prickly, moderate burn, medium-fine. Flavor is moderate apple juice, farm hay, pleasant clean bitterness in the finish that doesn’t linger. Delicious, in my opinion. No complaints.

750ml bottle from vanuxeem, all to myself :-) Sherbety and refreshing. A cross between duval and hommelbier, but without duval’s bitterness, well balanced. Presentation is superb in a chalice glass, lovely head tight and beautiful colour. 8% abv not overpowering. Het anker brew some superb beers!

Aroma: grain malts, light floral hops, light sour and yeast. Appearance: hazy, pale gold, massive, frothy, white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: turns quite sweet, malty, grains, cereals and bread, sudden hoppy flavour comes up, floral, turning bitter, quite lively carbonation. Overall: very interesting Belgian Strong Ale, quite like the hoppy flavours. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.
