3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours haxy golden with no head. The nose is hoppy and spicy. The flavor goes a bit sweeter, but is interesingly complex and enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Beaming herbal hoppiness expands into spicy and citrusy profiles onto the straw-like cereals in this very bitter, virile Belgian hopzilla.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A mountainous head of foam clings to the cloudy blond.
-I have to disagree with part of the commercial description here; the bitterness in the aftertaste is far from "gentle". It is gripping, endless and perhaps disproportionate when compared to the hop presence in the flavor profile.
-Carbonation is frothy and very expansive; it just doesn’t let up even though I always let my glasses breathe for many minutes.
-A bready yeast presence adds complexity to the flavor profile.
-Even though it is 8% abv, it remains very drinkable throughout.
-This cousin of Houblon Chouffe might not have as compelling a recipe, but that’s just me; this remains a wonderfully crafted Belgian Double IPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a huge head that never fully clears. Aromas of earthy hop notes and a dank floral sweetness. Flavors are crisp and spicy with a lot of black pepper flavors. Thin malt sweetness in the background, but hops dominate. Palate is great- super dry and crisp.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale golden colour with a huge white head. Light malty sweet aroma with notes of creals and hops and a vague hint of perfume. Hoppy, light soapy flavor with notes of pine and fruit.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Very high creamy and long lasting white head. Slightly hazy yellow body. Mild sweet and weak barley malt aroma. Flavor does however have a dry hops bitterness, tastable alcoholk - too much - low carbonation and a long bitter aftertaste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled(330ml). -Some contradictory informations on the label. On Gouden Carolus logo is written "a great blonde ale", and on the right side of label stands "belgian amber ale"???
Cloudy golden coloured, medium sized white head, hoppy spicy nose. Decent hoppy, light yeasty and spicy taste with fruity alcoholic notes. Lots of sediment. Dry hoppy and mild alcoholic finish. Enjoyable BSA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2012 Hazy lemonrind yellow pour with a profuse sticky white head, very well retained. Nose is very interesting, hibiscus flower and raw bread dough with some spicy notes, pepper, and citrus zest. Very dry and peppery/zesty/spicy palate and flavor. Almost bretty. Notes of pineapple and fresh cut grass. Very light body and dry finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy golden body, white head; Super hoppy still very Belgian yeasty nose; Very yeasty, warm and hop bitter body, not to well composed; Long very bitter dry finish mixed with yeas harshness. Not the best combination, Belgian yeast and to much hop!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled (BB 04/2011)
Hazy yellow color, good white head, lace. Cat piss, hemp-aroma. Good maltyness, a bit yeasty (lots of floating particles), fresh hayish hoppy flavor. Nice long hoppy aftertaste. Cat piss hops are not really something I like most, but otherwise ok brew from this world class brewery.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale yellow body along with a tall effervescent head that leaves clinging gobs of lace as the head recedes. A doughy aroma comes through with the typical yeast and honey sweetness of the style. A hop note is noticeably missing from the aroma. A bitter hop bite shows itself in the flavor as well as an expected yeasty spice, and tingly body. The dry bitterness persists throughout the body. Flavors of honey, hay, under baked bread, and grapes maybe. Pretty solid and enjoyable but it doesn’t wow me.
