Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

Bottle thanks to blutt59. Pours with a huge, white head covering a murky yellow body with small yeasties hanging out in the bottom of the glass. Aroma is spicey yeast, sugar and some pepper with a slight hint of sour and citrus trailing off at the end. Taste is sweet, lightly yeasty, orange, and decently hopped. Very lively carbonation.

Bottle thanks to blutt59. Pours a clody gold with great thick head. Has a nice tangy, citris aroma. Flavor has a nice alcohol spice with a little brett, nice citris barnyard taste. Mouthfeel is light body with high carbonation, fizzy.....over all, very enjoyable.....!

Fantastically explosive, I pulled off the cage and away the cork went, I lost all but about 25cl of my 750ml bottle (luckily most of it into my sink). The head ends up 6 fingers in height in my tulip glass with a pale, off-white color. The beer is deeply hazy with lots of stirred up sediment and is a gold color. The aroma has a bright, herbal, grassy hoppiness to it that has a backdrop of lemon zest, aromatic tangerine and a tropical fruit / kumquat note that gets more prominent the more I dig. The hop aromatics are clearly dominant here, but there is just a hint of cracker like malt to the finish. This smells quite nice to this hophead and I am quite sad I lost so much of this beer.

Lightly sweet with a fruitiness up front. This quickly picks up a green, herbal edge to it through the middle and the finish is a mix of hot alcohol and astringent bitterness. This is very light and thus very quaffable, for a beer of this strength. The hops provide fruit flavors of tangerine, kumquat, lychee, but definitely have an herbal & amply grassy edge to them that is accentuated by the higher alcohols. This can get slightly astringent and the herbal / alcohol notes in the finish provide more of a balance to the up front fruitiness than any light bitterness that is here.

Despite being a bit harsh in the finish, this remains just incredibly easy to drink. I could have easily finished a 750ml bottle by myself and will definitely have to try and get another bottle of this to enjoy.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. There seems to be a trend for Belgian brewers to start making a hoppy beer along with their classic selection. This exudes hop. Hazy pale gold, thick rocky beige head. Lovely hoppy aroma in the style of Hommelbier, slightly hoppy yeasty aroma. Good leafy hop. Really quite earty and a little muddy in the mouth. Refreshing though and excellent hop intensity. This is good and very much my type of beer. Really sharp peppery hop finish.

A decent sized head atop a slightly hazy golden color. Aroma smelled metallic and skunked when I first popped the cork. That gave way to grassy and faint notes of citrus. Flavor has a decent crispness but an almost souring feel to it.

on tap at Hop Leaf. pours hazy glowing orange with creamy white head. wonderful hallertau and saaz aroma, i’m such a sucker for those hops. earthy and spice with some citrus in there too. the hop aroma carries nicely into the flavor with some sweet candy malt coming through, this comes close to an ipa tripel. wonderful beer, perhaps this could be nicer at only 7%abv.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a very large white head. Aroma is great with lots of musty funk but some piney hop follows. Flavor is again musty with some citrus hops with some funk. Very prickly carbonation tingle the tounge as this goes down. Not outstanding but deffinatly good. Saison lovers would really dig this.

Hoppy yeasty aroma. Crisp carbonation in the mouth. Massively hoppy taste. Lockets finish - honey and eucalyptus. Hoppy finish - raw sticky hops! Very enjoyable.
