Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

Bottle: Cloudy, golden, some floaties visible, stable creamy white head; distinctive herbal and bitter hops in the aroma, supported by a sweetish malty-fruity background; very solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, relatively soft; increasing tartness in the solid hoppy finish, balanced by a subtlr fruitiness. The hops stick to the palate, even when the bottle is empty.........

Cloudy yellow pour with an enormous bubbly white head that hangs around forever. Aromas of pale malts, crisp piney hops, and lemony citrus. Mainly hops on the tongue, which was unexpected yet thoroughly enjoyed. Great carbonation. Very lively with just enough hoppy bitterness.

This one poured a cloudy dark yellow color with a white head. Aroma was sweet malts and bittering hops as well. Flavor was much like the classic except the extra hops block out the sweet malty finish.

Great Head that fades slowely, great lacing, cloudy blond color, but not much distinstion for flavor as hops go. As a strong ale it is OK for its alcoholcontribution, sweet, but weak on fruits. As a hopped Belgian there are better versions. Distinctive but not the best use of hops.

fantastic hop aroma - all the perfumey herbal flowery stuff I like, mixed with nice fresh doughy belgian yeast and bit of banana. 5 for appearance cause the head is colossal and leaves great ice floes as it subsides. in the mouth a bit disappointing - dry to the point of emptiness, with phenols peppery (good) but also a bit burn ointmenty ( bad): surprisingly not much bitterness. banana.

Bottle courtesy of SoLan. Good aroma of coriander. Hazy yellow body with excellent sheetings of lacing. Zesty soapy lemon flavor with some wheat and mild bitterness. Good beer. A BSA I actually really enjoyed!
