COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

TAR (2236) - Lafayette, USA - AUG 5, 2008
Golden straw. Rocky stark-white head cakes the glass with thick lace. Heavenly aromatic medley of lemongrass, pepper-dusted honeydew, pear, aniseed, baked apples, banana cream pie, and haylike Pils malt. Lightly phenolic with a hint of bubblegum. Tight, weightless carbonation graces the palate. Soft, flavorsome hops inundate the palate with a lustrous and uplifting array of flowers, honeysuckle and herbs. Elegant interplay between the malt and hops, as the deftly extracted Pils malt pillars the succulent hoppiness as it crackles with vibrant tones of hay, crackers, and fresh bread. Beautifully defined spicy-hop bitterness teases the palate amid an awe-inspiring assortment of yeast-derived nuances and persistently juicy hops. Peppery phenols match the feisty qualities of the hops. Lemony fruitiness generates a lemon meringue pie effect as it teams up with the refined malt. Highly quaffable as a tonic- and honeydew-twinge of tartness adds lift while stimulating the palate. Alcohol is well concealed, though a late dusting of clove and coriander accentuates it slightly. Finishes fluffy with yeast and daintily soft with malt, and sealed with a well-defined lime-peel bitterness and herbal hop snap. Aside from the higher ABV here, this is easily in the same league with world-class Belgian blondes like Zinnebir, Taras Boulba, XX Bitter, La Rulles Estivale, and Russian River Redemption. An absolutely beautiful beer!

Smells like straw. Has a bit of a sour aftertaste, a farm sour. Golden colour, good tracing. Taste has high alcohol and some floral hops in the taste but not so much in the smell. Bottle at The Rhino.

25.4 oz. bottle consumed on 5-11-12. Very pleasant, hoppy, perfumey, minerally, salty, sour, sharp, clean aroma features orange sherbet, lemon, chlorine, and soap scents. Pours a hazy gold/orange/brass with a large amount of uneven, foamy, nearly white head. Unique color. Produces good, thick, long-lasting lacing. Dry, bitter, astringent, sharp taste. A bit of lemon. Much less creaminess and fruitiness in the flavor than in the aroma, and that’s unfortunate. Medium body. Lively and frothy in the palate. Produces a bite in the back of the throat. Overall, Hopsinjoor is pretty good, but if it tasted more like it smelled, it could have been nearly great.

Caramel, yeast, fruit, and spice in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet and yeasty, with dark fruit and spice. Some bittering hops and more spice in the finish, with a creamy mouthfeel. Nice.

330ml bottle. Huge white fluffy head with long retention. It’s murky orange, a lot like orange juice. Aroma is yeasty with a lot of spices and citrus. Taste: bold with a strong booze heat and taste, a little tart, strong bitterness.
