Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2014 Troebel, geel/lichtoranje met hele grote, vlokkige schuimkraag. Duidelijk aroma van hop, gist, citrus. Beetje zoet brood in de neus. Bitterheid overheerst in de smaak, licht zurig, zeer licht zoet. Nasmaak is vooral bitter.

Bottle at Kunstemaecker, Steenkerke, 17/10/14. Hazed golden orange with a big old eggshell white covering. Nose is bitter orange, earthy hops, straw, apricot, caramel. light yeast notes. Taste comprises apricot, sharp mandarin, rich fruit tones, spice, earthy, orange marmalade. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hoppy backwash in the close. Decent enough Belgian strong with a hoppy punch.

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a very cloudy pale yellow forming a huge white aired and fluffy head. Huge retention. Its foam looks whipped cream, leaving tons of lacings around. Beautiful. Reminds me Duvel in this aspect S: Very citrus. Orange and lemons. Sweet grains, grassy hops and Belgian yeasts. An authentic Belgian IPA T: Slightly sweet malts upfront. Strong notes of oranges, orange zest, lemon, grassy hops and Belgian yeasts. A bit bready and earthy too. In overall a dry taste and a stingy but not very strong hoppy bitterness M: Medium body. Good carbonation. Malty, citrus and hoppy bitter aftertaste O: Very drinkable. Authentic Belgian IPA. Recommended [ BA Review @ 2/24/2013 ]

Tap - fair size creamy looking head, hazy burnt orange color, fairly well balanced aroma and flavor actually, earthy and mildly fruity hops, fair malt, fair Belgian yeasty spice - good overall but did expect a little more to be honest, especially in the hop dept with a name like this ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Couleur jaune trouble; mousse blanc-crême; arômes et goût fruités, maltés et houblonnés; l’alcool se fait un peu sentir; finale sèche et amère

not sure of the date on this, but the hops seem pretty mellow. not a "belgian ipa" at all, but a fruity, slightly apple-tart sour belgian. more tripel like than hoppy, but the bitter hops are there a little in the finish and aftertaste. not bad, not quite worth the price tag at 4.75 for an 11 oz, though. i would love to have this fresh on tap - it’s got potential."

Bottle, a bit too lively, hazy dark gold pour with a big lasting headpine and lemon hoppy nose with hints of golden syrup, fully bodied and bittersweet, more flavoursome earthy hoppiness on the palate, touches of citrus, dry grass, spice and drying alcohol.
