Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

Am I the only one that did not enjoy this brew? Light aroma. Confusing taste, strange bitterness. Extra carbonated. Not balanced. Perhaps the problem was my bottle, but I do not believe it was that.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a clear yellow with a large white head. Aroma of juicy fruit, grain and peppery hop. Taste is sweet to start, followed by a firm but light bitterness. Rich and sticky palate, there is also further sweet fruitiness and peppery, resin flavours from the hopping. Short dry finish. Not bad.

Pours slightly hazy pale golden with a stable, thick, lasting white head. Beautfiful lacing. Nice fruity aroma with clear malty notes. Nice citrus smell, apples, some hoppy notes... Malty touches from the caramel and some honey. Some spices up the nose as well. Loveable. Taste is bitterish with a beautifully spiced up yeasty and fruity touch. The fruits kick in beautifully, taking over from the bitterness to linger long in the incredibly soft and tasteful aftertaste. Spices, fruits, sweetness and softness sizzling all over the place. This is some kind of a treasure... Wow. Beautiful balance between bitters, sweets and softness. Nicely full bodied, nice silky mouthfeel. Marvellous. Wonderful, world class brew.
