COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma. 50 IBU / 18.6 Plato

bought at LCBO, Ottawa Pours pale hazy with beautiful thick white head the overall picture in my glass reminds me of a whit or Weiss. aroma shows signs of citrus texture is quite thin with a fizzy carbonation, which kind of turns me off for a 8% belgium beer. not my favourite, but still a great pick for the price.

Lots of lacing Taste: Very bitter initially! Sweet. Bread. More bitterness. Spicy. hops flavors. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Quite dry, but with a sweet/bitter finish. Medium effervescence. 330 ml bottle, poured into my tulip glass. ABV 8% Pale yellow to orange colour, slighty hazy. Huge white head on top, soapy and thick, with very good retention and heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity, with the typical belgian yeast. Some sugar too and quite hoppy. It brings me to mind the Gouden Carolus Tripel only less hoppy aroma much more fruity now. Nice taste, fruity and sweet at first, turns quickly to bitterness. Medium duration. Quite hoppy, not so much flavour wise but palate wise, as it causes a numb feeling. An airy feeling on the mouthfeel, with a medium body and good carbonation. Overall another great beer from Het Anker.

Fatehunter (754) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Poured a big head with a cloudy dirty straw colored body. The aroma is like a candied lemon. The flavor hits from the beginning with a sharp bitterness the relents to a mild sweetness in the latter part of the profile. The finish is fairly short mild bitterness. The texture is a bit on the fizzy side with a medium body. The fizziness with the strong bitter beginning make this an aggressive ale. Enjoyable but be ready for it.
