Commercial Description:
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers. Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm). Kind of hops: 4 types of hops are used: Golding, Spalt, Hallertau and Saaz. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma. Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

ZBF 2008. Clear yellow colour. Pale malty aroma with balanced floral hops. Big on the Co2 with good malt profile. Notes of vanilla and grass. Very nice hoppiness in flavouring and bittering.

Thanks to KingG for recommending this brew. Very nice! Pours hazy, straw yellow with a huge white head, great retention, sheet lace. Smells very bready and yeasty with some slight hop aromas as well. Tastes yeasty and bready again but this time with a very nice hop presence. Slightly bitter, slightly sweet. Medium body, super vibrant carbonation.

4 hops: Saaz, Spalt, Tradition, & Golding. Also, named after a 200+ year old puppet. Huh. Hugely hazed, bright golden color, big head, long-lasting, lace-leaving. Poured into a small Gouden Carolus gold-rimmed glass. Aroma: bright, beautiful hops, more citrus, lemon, with just a side-oder of cat pee. Creamy, floral, yummy. It blasts hops on the palate right from the start. Blisteringly bitter, long sizzle on the the tongue. Full-bodied, lush malt. A bright beer, with intense hop flavor. I thought a mere 50 IBUs would result in less hop bitterness than this. I’m happily reassured. Swims brilliantly in the mouth, spreading hoppiness and joy. Snappy. Bold. Refreshing and delicious. Big citric slap. nice one, Golden Charlie!

Like a champagne beer, its imposible to open or pour without the foam spilling over. Very smooth and silky carbonation though, Flavors are citrusy and lightly hoppy. The aroma is bandaid and soap. The finish however is bready and earthy with a typical Carolus Green apple hint to it. Alcohol not noticeable.
