tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Nov 4, 2009 33 cl bottle at home. Vintage 2009. Clear reddish brown color, fine off-white/beige head. Aroma is fruity, caramel malt, with some yeast and spices. Flavor is sweet (almost sugar) and malty, with fruit, spices, some alcohol, hops and fine bitterness in the finish. Typical Belgian, and therefor a lovely strong beer. Some will say it´s too sweet; well, I like it that way. BelgiskOlklub (397), Viby J, Denmark Oct 27, 2009 Deep brown hazy body. Huge brown lasting head. Aroma of banana, anise, licorice and spiced - coriander? Heavy sweet and light bitter finish. Full body and sticky texture. sfhodense (554), Odense NØ, Denmark Oct 6, 2009 Old notes from DØE Horsens 06. Brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, fruity, plum, raisin and spices. Flavour is typical belgian, fruity, plum and raisin. glennmastrange (810), hobe sound, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2009 Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of cookie, cereal, nutty and milk chocolate, moderate flowers, perfume and orange for the hops, maybe a hint of broth for the yeast, and background notes of raisin, butterscotch, alcohol, fig and anise. Head is small, fizzy, very light brown with fair but thin lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky brown with a red tint. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy with a carbonation between soft and lively and finishes moderately alcoholic. This is one complex and well rounded beer. The hop profile is fantastic in this Belgian Strong Ale, fruity, spicey and perfectly balanced. gwpom (246), Akron, New York, USA Sep 25, 2009 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark caramel color, typical fruity Belgian aroma. Thin white head that barely sticks around, and a very nice, smooth flavor...smoother than I’ve come to expect from a true Belgian. I’m glad I got 2 bottles. azlondon (657), Fribourg, Switzerland Sep 22, 2009 Appearance: Dark brown, hint of red. Some tan head.
Aroma: Dark malt and dark fruit.
Taste: Warming. Dark, ripe fruit and dark malt. Very nice.
Info: 330ml bottle, 22/9-2009, 30/100 evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Sep 6, 2009 Bottle. Deep ruby coloured pour with a great thick beige head. Fantastic aroma of dark fruit, cinnamon. Sweet, port like, dark fruit, bready, rum like taste. Dangerously drinkable, complex Belgian Christmas beer. I have had this on draught many times. It is probably my favourite beer, utterly delicious. Dean (15), Netherlands Sep 1, 2009 Lovely beer! Great taste. Well balanced. Yum yum. A little bit better than Gouden Carolus classiek. I do love the beers from het Anker. Try the Cuvee de Keiser!!!
