kimcgolf (825), Dacula, Georgia, USA Dec 31, 2007 Typical Christmas beer, that was super thick with very dominant alcohol. Poured a dark brown with thin head that lingered awhile and left okay lacing. For me, there were only two dominant features throughout this beer....black licorice and alcohol. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of black licorice, and so whatever else was in this beer was lost to me, as I just kept getting sidetracked by this taste.
IDefinitely a winter warmer at 10.5% abv, just not my favorite. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Dec 30, 2007 Old rating Reddish brown color. Spicy, nutty, brown sugar aroma, very Christmasy. Flavor is malty, brown sugar, wintergreen, and spice. For me, too much added spice. Nice mouthfeel. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Dec 29, 2007 This Belgian strong Ale pours a muddy brown amber color from a corked finished 750ml bottle. Large sized beige foamy head. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel, candi sugar, fruit and a touch floral. A medium to full bodied BSA. The malts are fruity and sweet, with lots of brown sugar and caramel. A touch of chocolate and dark fruits and well. Earthy and round. A great sipping beer for a cool winter evening. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2007 330ml Bottle: Sweet, malty aroma. Smells of malts, dark fruits, raisins, alcohol, and caramel. Poured dark amber/ruby in color with a large, dense, rocky, tan head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Clear. Sparkling. Some medium-sized floating particles. Heavily sweet, not bitter flavor. Tastes of malts, dark fruits, raisin, graham crackers, alcohol, cherries, plums. Medium body. Sticky, tingly texture. Lively carbonation. Sweet malty finish. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Dec 28, 2007 WOW-EEEE smells like a candy store!!! Mmm Mmm Yummy!! Thick and hearty and full of Christmas Joy!!!! Wowww! on tap at Burpcastle. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 27, 2007 Pours a deep burgundy-brown with a cream, light tan head. The nose is big and malty with spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and a solid red wine-like note. Medium to full-bodied and slick with a dry woodiness and light alcohol on the finish. Sweet, malty and spicy with notes of cinnamon and anise concluding with a dry, vinous finish. A nice warming seasonal that’s definitely worth trying at least once. Funknmilla (577), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2007 Bomber....dark brown with reddish hues, creamy lt., brown sugar head....smells like a mix of vanilla and candy sugar muddled with apples and alcohol...the quick carbonation floods the mouth with alcohol, then distinct licorice, then alcohol, then licorice follows again...it gives me that "strong shot face"....bitter malty finish....needs time i’m thinkin’....just not my style of brew...perhaps I haven’t found just the right Belgian strong for me....or perhaps it has a lot to do with the licorice Maverick34 (690), New York, USA Dec 27, 2007 Updated: Mar 25, 2008Draft. Pours very dark and the result is very smooth, cinammony, and christmas tasting. Some malt etc. A great beer.
