The aroma is complex with toasted malt, brown sugar, spice, dark fruit, bubble gum, and yeast. The appearance is amber brown with a nice foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a toasty, caramel emphasis. The palate is smooth with a nice warm toasty finish which is one of the best I have had. I really like this beer. anbrew (1), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Full flavored but wonderfully elegant, this does not taste like it’s 10.5%. Beautiful Gouden Carolus fruity aromatics with nice caramel in the mouth finishes with full but clean malts. Very nice. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 18, 2006 mohogany pour with rising bubbles and frothy tan head. beautiful aroma of bananna, plum, raison, brown sugar, nutmeg and bubble gum. lively palate. 10% alcohol. This is fucking great. slight burn which is welcoming. dark fruits are sweet and the malts are thick and sticky. sugar dances on your tounge and melts like a maple sugar candy. Best Christmas brew that I’ve had to date. swoopjones (1896), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2006 Dark amber, this looks as potent as it sounds. Aroma is almost aggressive with fruit and spice... aniseed? Extraordinary. Flavor follows along the same tracks; plum, herbs, liquorice. No taste of alcohol, but you can really feel the 10.5%. Yeasty finish with a nice warm glow. Excellent, but while tasting this with a group of friends, there were some opposite opinions, not the easiest brew around. thewolf (5722), Kolding, Denmark
