xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 28, 2006 Bottle. Coriander strong sweet nut bread flavor. Beautiful full heady head on garnet brown body. Detecting brown sugar syrup. Lacking any real holiday character and not really that unique, but very drinkable and pleasant stuff. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Mar 21, 2006 Large beige creamy full lasting head. Mahogany color. Aroma is fruity with raisins, dark fruits, banana, vanilla and light spicy notes. Flavor is fruity with banana, candy, raisins and chocolate tones, ending in a long sweet finish. Full bodied. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA Mar 19, 2006 750ml (no idea what year) i would love to know because it seems like it has been perfected. pours nice head. the fruitiness goes well with the right amount of spice. A treasure of a find. a delicious beer harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Mar 11, 2006 33cl bottle from Dorstvlegel, Antwerp. I bought 3 Christmas beers from Belgium and this was my favourite. Dark brown/red with thin beige head. Dark malts and spice. Lots of spice in mouth. Lots of dry malt. Quite chewy in mouth. Its like liquid Soreen malt loaf, complete with raisins. Full, nice, got good most things about it. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Mar 9, 2006 Pours dark brown w/ medium head. Full nectar w/ a sweet cherry smack on the nose. It’s a cherry bomb and it tastes like sweet cherry caughdrops. Leaves no room for anything else. Drink it cold as a dessert. Alcohol is well hidden. Jeeeez, I can still taste it. I keep hearing Warrant singing their famous song, "she’s my cherry pie....sweet cherry pie.." DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Mar 7, 2006 On Tap at the Borough Arms, Crewe 20/05/2005
Mid to dark brown with spice and liquorice aromas. Some dryness and bitterness in a warming malt finish. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Mar 6, 2006 "Poured a nice brown color with okay head. Aroma was of carmel and spices, brown sugar. Flavor was spices dark fruits and carmel, not near as sweet as the aroma, still a little too sweet for me. Overall good beer" chriso (4667), London, Greater London, England Feb 28, 2006 On tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green. Tried this alongside Abbaye des Rocs Noel and was rather surprised to find I preferred the Gouden Carolus. Reddish copper colour. Packed with jammy fruit on the nose. Lots of berry fruit on the palate and plenty of rich, deep malt. Sweetish, but there’s an acidity that balances that. Very smooth, silky mouthfeel. Rather fuller and more voluptuous than the AdR to my palate, but it avoids being too rich. Very impressed.
