Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA May 26, 2005 750 ml bottle, 2003. Rich amber color with a nice head. Aromas jump out at you with black licorice and malt. Taste is strong all right with some flavors of ripe fruits, pine, caramel and an assortment of spices. Very sweet, it starts out as a sipper but as the palalte acclimates, it’s smooth sailing. Just too sweet to drink often. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA May 22, 2005 Pours a cloudy maroonish-brown hue with a huge, dense and durable off-white head. Thick lacing prevails throughout the glass. Rich, fragrant aromas of raisin, fig, yeast, gingerbread, anise and dark caramel prevail. Taste certainly does not disappoint with a blast of overwhelmingly delicious flavors to match the aroma along with a subtle presence of cocoa and licorice. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and creamy. A real exquisite holiday treat, even on a warm May night in Florida. steview (901), Los Angeles, California, USA May 21, 2005 muddy brown body with frothy, lazy, light tan head with lots of lacing. hazelnut, cinnamon, spicy chocolate, fresh baked bread, alcohol, light banana. delicious. like a brown without the emphasis on nuttiness, and like a weisse without the whole banana thing. awesome dessert beer. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA May 16, 2005 75cl bottle, unknown age. Pours dark with NO head...strong spicey aroma also includes a sort of sweet fruit...chocolate cherries sweet plum sauce...Big sweet alcohol...lingering burn...my lips stick to the glass when I drink...Good as a nightcap...It starts to look ruby red as I finish my glass, and I think this is something to be thought of like a big, jammy red wine...but it does seem a little lifeless to me...a beer to sit and sip, and very enjoyable by the end! MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 14, 2005 Updated: Oct 13, 2007A Mes rate: 33cl bottle from Kris Wines. Awesome jet black appearance with a good tan head then can be added to whenever you wish by a quick swill. Wonderful nose of heavy liquorice, malt, vanilla and spice. Stunning creamy alcohol type notes. Flavour more of the same but just slightly let down by the huge huge alcohol. Plenty of burn that is just about tollerable but in a so wrong it’s good way. Full bodied and sweet and fruity and all round excellent. Aged bottles are fantastic.
