4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rich creamy and lacing foam tops this dark ruby red beer Liquorice, yeast and caramel aroma. Lots of liquorice flavour, some citrus, warming alcohol, almost like a liqueur. Sweet, yet with balancing bitterness. Soft, but well-carbonated with a full body. a very intense beer with lots of character.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle cellared 2 years: Pours brown with a generous tan head. Complex tarte fruity aromas eventually give way to banana and coriander elements. Taste is initially nutty with some nice chocolate and fig notes. Hints of peaches and cherries in the background. Oily mouthfeel and a sweet nutty finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
het ankerís holiday brew might be the nearest thing to liquid fruitcake iíve yet beheld. no, not that cheap, sucky fruitcake composed of artificially colored, rubbery psuedo-fruit blobs embedded in discusting gummy nogahide cake thatís pressed into molds like particleboard and has a dangerous half-life longer than strontium. no, i mean real home-made fruit cake blended judiciously with chunks of dried cherries, pineapple and plum, praline and orange peel with pulsing arteries of honey and rose water-- and finally dosed with enough brandy to render it incendiary within fifty feet of the fireplace. this is lovely and potent stuff. the cork pops like a starting gun on your race toward insousiant inebriation. like a brazilian beauty queen the caramel malts are brown and flushed with ruby highlights -- and even on a winter night, this gal is nude with amber clarity under that frothy woolen blanket of foam. the lace made lingering snow flake filigrees on the snifter--arabesques that defied gravity and traded electrons with the surface of the glass in a bid for archival permanence. this tenacity is owing to the huge amounts of sugar demanded by this recipe. when the sugar export market responded to the needs of just this beer, we can reasonably imagine fidel castro gleefully pumping his jubilant fists like a winning boxer. so share it with a loved one; this is a liqueur, a dessert-- and strong-- your designated driver shouldnít be allowed to even sniff this...

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared with some fellows at work. Amber color, foamy head. Nose was candy and spice, caramel. Taste was like the smell, with some wondeful warming from the high abv. Great x-mas brew.
