3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is another of my 2005 Christmas Beers. What a nice surprise. The head formation was modest and the color was deep amber or brown. There was excellent lacing down the glass. Upon uncorking this bottle there was an immediate release of yeast and malt aroma. The body is medium with some sweetness. There are hints of other spices and hops. The high alochol is hidden very well. This has been of the best Belgium ales that I have enjoyed.

Pours out a dark brown amber color with a nice big tan head. Beautiful sweet aroma. Flavor is reminiscent of dark fruit and licorice or absinthe. One of the best Christmas beers I’ve had.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Last beer of the night at our last tasting. Pours a murky reddish-brown with an average size fizzy tan head. Big sweet aroma of sugar, spices, fruit, yeast, caramel malt and more -- quite complex. Flavour is sweet and spicey with a big alcohol kick, some dark fruit, nuts and a nice bitterness. So much going on in the flavour. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. A perfect Christmas beer to end a great Christmas tasting with great friends. Bring on 2006!

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rich creamy and lacing foam tops this dark ruby red beer Liquorice, yeast and caramel aroma. Lots of liquorice flavour, some citrus, warming alcohol, almost like a liqueur. Sweet, yet with balancing bitterness. Soft, but well-carbonated with a full body. a very intense beer with lots of character.

Bottle 75cl. Superb aroma and apperance. Flavour follows the aroma with a full body. I will try to get some more of these and store them to the next season.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle cellared 2 years: Pours brown with a generous tan head. Complex tarte fruity aromas eventually give way to banana and coriander elements. Taste is initially nutty with some nice chocolate and fig notes. Hints of peaches and cherries in the background. Oily mouthfeel and a sweet nutty finish.
