Head is light brown and small-medium. Aroma is slightly spicy toffee. Flavor is toffee-caramel with some alcohol warmth, turning to a dryer date-raisin-fig. Palate is creamy smooth with a nice dry prickly alcohol finish. A spiciness that subtly hints at coriander, ginger, and bitter orange peel. Excellent winter holiday warmer, even though I sampled in April! TheGrandMaster (1882), Auckland, New Zealand

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2005 Just too overpoweringly medicinal...with VERY strong licorice and alcohol. Just couldn’t get past the anice assault on my senses...although the alcohol assault pulled me through to save the day.
