3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served on tap at Brick Store Pub in Decatur. Pours a dark brown-red with a murky profile. Head dissipates quickly, but leaves a massive amount of lacing. Aroma is really dominated by licorice and anise (I mean it) and spice. Taste of licorice, banana, slight alcohol, with a slightly yeasty aftertaste. Overall, a very sweet beer. Nice mouthfeel, a bit chewy. In sum, a very fine Christmastime Belgian, especially for the licorice lovers out there. Gets a very strong recommendation.

Nice Christmas seasonal. The herbs are not overwhelming but add a subtle touch to an already great beer.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Ruikt en smaakt zeer zoet, haast naar drop. Mooie donkere kleur, haast zwart. Echt een kerstbiertje voor de koude dagen. Dat is wel meteen het nadeel. Het bier is vooral zoet en zwaar. Je zal hier niet scherper van worden...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 vintage, 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a deep plum color with ruby highlights and orange edging, capped with a tall khaki head of foam that settles slowly to a ring and film, leaving a wall of tight foamy lace. Nose involves rum raisin cake, figs, cherries, lots of dark fruit, spicy esters, a light briny, vinegary quality, a hint of cardboard oxidation, some marshmallow, peaches, brown sugar, toast. Very sweet, somewhat bitter, lightly tart. Medium to full bodied, viscous and oily yet fairly actively carbed, with a long fruity sweet and tart warming alcoholic finish. Not terribly past its prime, but it’s just too sweet and unbalanced in general to be really enjoyable. Definitely a lot of interesting things going on, decadent and dessert-like, but just a bit over the top.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown colour with almost no head. Aroma is malty, little liqueuric, with lot of spices. Flavour is the same, with spice-liqueuric notes. Malty-spicily-alcoholic aftertaste. Complex beer.

75cl bottle. Wow! This is fantastic seasonal strong belgian beer. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Sweet malty aromas with dried fruit, spices. Sweet flavors of brown sugar. I know what I’m buying next Crhistmas

15.12.2014. Color of cola. Aroma is very sweet, intense anise, liquorice, spices. Taste has strong sweet liquorice, also anise is still there. This is good but sweetness and strangeish notes are too strong. Some taste of alcohol also in aftertaste.

750ml bottle of 2013 bottling. Pours a black color with a lot of frothy head. Mildly sweet caramel and some licorice spice. The spice balances nicely.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from systembolaget. Pours dark amber with a medium beige head. Not really a rich smell though some raisins, malts and what I guess are fusel alcohol. Taste is strong and complex. A sweet and fruity taste. Palate is relatively thin though it is quiet drinkable. Overall a decent Christmas beer

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Birra stappata dopo oltre un anno dall’acquisto. Marrone con leggeri riflessi rossastri, schiuma beige cremosa ma quasi assente. Intenso aroma di spezie, al palato molto dolce, caramello, liquirizia. Carbonazione media, alcol molto in evidenza. Finale pieno e caldo. Una splendida bevuta per le fredde serate, da gustare a piccoli sorsi.
