Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Pours a cloudy, soupy brown with a large white head. Aroma has a lot of cream, yeast, very bready with some brown sugar. Flavor has a lot of honey, boozy and sweet. Some grasses/hay toward the end. Spritzy mouthfeel, medium viscosity. Not a very good triple, frankly. Overall, fair.

There is a hint of purfume or something artificial in the smell, it just doesn’t sit right. Hazy and consistantly carbonated, light but still nicely particulated. The taste is very similar to the smell but sweet, very nice palate and smooth tasting, a bit of an aftertaste.

75 cl bottle at Belga Cafe beer dinner, paired with braised pork served with a Gouden Carolus Classic sauce and turnips. Light golden color, medium white head with a bit of lacing. Aroma had notes of citrus and light spice. Light bodied, decent malt in the taste, fairly well balanced with hops late and in the finish.

Very nice amber with a big fluffy head. Aroam of sweet molasses and spices. Very nice sweet flavor of caramel, honey and sweet malt. Finishes very dry considering the sweetness. Good stuff.

Bottle: Golden, small persistent white creamy head, lazy carbonation; solid sweetish-fruity (oranges) nose with a citrousy-hoppy support; robust bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied, creamy MF; lingering orangey-hoppy finish with a lot of sweet pale malt. A goody.....

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big white fluffy head that lasts for ages. Nose is quite sweet and has a strong aroma of honey with lesser aromas of lemon, spice and caramel. Flavour is less sweet than the aroma but has a similar character with honey, citrus, caramel, yeast and mixed spice all standing out. Noticeable hops at the end as well. Quite different from a lot of tripels in that it is less sweet and has a creamier texture but is nonetheless a seriously good beer that could hold its own in any category.
