COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

330 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mongkok.

Looks: Cloudy hazy golden light honey colour with a thin ring of yeast sediments; One and a half finger head and long-lasting crumpety white foam; Excellent sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant sweet malt, with banana, vanilla, caramel, strong alcohol, light dark fruits, sugar, bread, strong Bel yeast, light lemon and thin grass.

Taste: Med to strong sweet malt, with banana, caramel, dark fruits, strong alcohol, sugar, spices, strong Bel yeast, strong lemon, quite strong bitter hops and herbal grass.

Body: Mid to full body. Very creamy and slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Very good maltyness in rich background, very smooth and creamy. Booze is strong but not harsh, and strong herbal hops reigns. Banana and dark fruit esters make their presence felt but took a back seat. Sweetness is good and just right with the herbs. Joyful!

Hoppiness: Light lemon and thin grass in nose, and much stronger in taste. Bitterness has strong herbal influence for a lasting, mid-to-high astringent sweet malty finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Creamy, boozy and hoppy to mouth.

Comments: I had high expectation with the Gouden Carolus brand and this Tripel surely lives up - rich smooth body, surgically and tasty booze and hoppiness to the style, with strong herbs and spice mixed with just-right sweetness. Only it wasn’t as Bel-yeasty as I hoped. Excellent and Merry Christmas!

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear, nice deep golden with a thick, resilient white head. Aroma is sweetbread, vanilla, spices. Flavor is spices, vanilla, some lemon, sweet syrup. Finish is lemon, vanilla, some peach and pear. Medium to full body, soft mouthfeel and weak to average carbonation.

Pours murky blonde with a big white head. Nose is banana, coriander, and light citrus. After a little hops on the front, this is a smooth, well carbonated ride of various fruits and a little bread and spice. Alcohol is very well hidden. Delicious

DAA; Bottle 33 cl., from Vinmonopolet. Pours huge, hazy gold with a forever lasting and lacing frothy creamy white head. Nose is moderate, malt, citric apple, yeast, light perfumed, bread, milk and spice. Taste is moderat sweet and bitter with a light warming and somewhat lasting spice finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

As good as Trappist beers, beautiful hue, head settles quickly, all too drinkable (this is an observation, not a complaint). Nice feel on the toungue, no aftertaste. Overall a wonderful beer to enjoy at leisure.

Mycket gott.
