Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

bouquet is floral but not the best of the upper echelon triples from Belgium. Slightly foamy when it hits your tongue but you are rewarded with a refreshing hoppy, sour chewiness of a Triple. It’s a 9% beer with smooth character but I would not pay $4.50 again for an 11.2 ouncer, I prefer some of the American Microbrew triples to this Belgian.

Great triple. Has a bright golden body with giant white, fluffy head. Leaves a wonderful lacing in the glass. Spicy and mildy fruity aroma and taste. Well attenuated. Goes down a little too well if you know what I mean.

Pale golden, lightly hazy with a very thick creamy/fluffy white head. Truly beautiful-looking beer. Aroma is quite fresh, light malt, crisp bright spiciness. Light clove, apricot and lovely yeasty spiciness. A bit of mint and soft yeastiness. The flavour is just so well-balanced. A light wheaty/bready malt base, but it is still deliciously dry. Flavour is spicy and lightly fruity. Very delicate with a lingering mint/herb hoppiness on the back. Finishes very crisp and dry. Awesome.

Bottle at some Beer Hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Hazy lively golden pour with a huge & frothy white head. Nicely aromatic with Belgian yeast esters. Some herbal notes, mild bubblegum (without being sweet), honey, dates and very subtle lemon peel. Nice aroma. The body has a dense and creamy carbonation, that’s actually a bit too lively at first, then it settles down nicely. The flavor has a solid Belgian malt base, making it a bit honeyish overall, along with mild lemon peel, smooth peppery alcohol and an herbal Belgian hop bitter finish. Not the most complex, but definitely solid.

100th rating! [Bottle] Poured hazy gold with a large whiteish head. Aroma is spicy and sweet, with lots of bready yeast. Flavor is very nice. Typical belgian yeastiness. Perfect amount of spices and carbonation. Very light mouthfeel, and pretty much no alcohol detected.

330 ml. Cloudy, orange-amber with a large meringue head that leaves sheets of lacing. Aroma is rich fruitcake (with icing). Flavor is similar: dense brandy-rum cake with raisins, lemon, apples, and dates. Nice balance from subtle earthy notes of sourish leather and woody herbs. Well-blended balance of big flavors; the richness pitted against the dryness of the yeast, hops, and alcohol. Medium body is mostly smooth and dry.

[Bottle] Pours dark golden with a big white head. Aroma is really lemony with a hint of banana. Taste is yeasty, with a good deal of malt, and a bit of coriander. Medium-thick mouthfeel with a long finish that is slightly dry. The dominance of the lemon in the aroma didn’t really work for me, otherwise a fairly good beer.

Hazy, dirty blonde. Herbal, dry floral aroma. Lively, meadow spices of coriander and green pepper, with zesty citrus flashes of lemon and orange. Banana eases it back a little with some conventional sweetness. Flavor is a slightly sterile warmth at first of honey and fruit liqueur, wholly bland and very dry. Peppery alcohol and overripe fruits with a type of stale citrus vodka intimiation that suggests the brittleness and obesity of age. Very weighty palate; mostly absent carbonation in this bittersweet syrup. Smacks of cotton candy and unsweetened vanilla coffee syrup. Chases hot. A slow gathering of dust on this probably once lovely triple, even in a short amount of time.
