HighlanderOne (439), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Apr 19, 2008 Poured from bottle 4/2008. Lemon cake aroma - nice. Big head, cloudy gold color. Great combo of flavors - bread, citrus, spice , pepper, banana. Hop and wood in the aftertaste. Great finish. Terrific.
BoBoChamp (255), Gent, Belgium Jul 22, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, hazy, good head, very good brew, but not a topper Skeegle (293), USA Jul 16, 2008 I wasn’t extremely impressed by this beer, especially after having Het Anker’s other excellent beers. This one was just pure yeastiness. It was like a honey drenched yeast bomb. I had high expectations, but I guess abbey tripel isn’t a style of mine, as I have had bad experiences in the past. SpudClampDawg (901), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 11, 2008 750ml bottle: Shimmering yellow pour with a three-finger whipped head that settles into a firm cap on top. The aroma is all yeast and honey - lots of ripe banana, pear, sweet apple - wrapped in an ethery blanket. Big, chewy mouthfeel. Hot alcohol vapor fills the mouth with each sip. Dirty, but sweet, malts offer honey and sugary toffee while the fruit esthers continue to bombard the tongue. Cool down the fusels in this and it would be more enjoyable. As is, still darn good. MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Hazy golden color with a medium slightly fluffy white head. Aroma is yeasty, grassy, lightly sweet, slightly spiced - bits of orange and cloves. Flavor is surprisingly dry for a big Belgian tripel. Spicy notes in great depth, assumedly at least in part from the yeast. Very nice complex beer that, though fairly dry, has nice fruity and never bitter qualities. gmonroe10 (100), Netherlands Jul 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a a light amber with a large creamy white head. Sweet fruit aroma, no alcohol. Flavor is sweet as well, very prominent malt. Sweet dry quick finish.
