Bottle 750ml. Great beer, with a very nice mouthfeel. Aromas of caramel and chocolate, with hints of liquorice. Taste has a sweet start, followed by bitter notes, and a long finish. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Black, with a thin head.

Bottle (750ml). Poured very deep/dark brown (resembling black) with an average sized, frothy, light brown head which was mostly lasting. Strong notes of coco powder in the aroma with roasted malts, molasses, sultana’s and some licorice. Flavor was of vegemite on burnt toast with bitter chocolate, prunes, plums, licorice and a lingering dry, bitter, ashy finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation, quite dry mouthfeel, watery texture and an ok finish. Lots of good flavors going on in this one, but the over carbonation killed it a bit for me. Purchased from “Plonk” cellars Canberra.

Black colour with short but lasting light tan head. Touch of liquorice but mainly coffee and chocolate notes. Still find the house taste is in this as well.

Appealingly dark, with tinted head. Slightly metallic hint in the aroma, a little liquorice, coffee and chocolate. Nice full palate, though rather a lack of flavour, some choc and coffee with a malty finish, slight hint of oxidation shows as initial sourness. Not a great beer but definitely preferable to their "sparkling" ale.

Smokey malt aroma. Black colour with creamy head that lasts. Bitter burnt malt flavour. Sharp palate.

3 April 2004 - (Goulburn Brewery) - Choc roasted malt and fruity aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour, brown head and sheet lacing. Sweetish flavour that lacks complexity and is just choc malt. Light bitter malt finish. (Rated under observance of the proprietor)

Most stouts will survive a detailed analysis simply because the ingredients used can disguise a number of flaws. Looks good to begin with but the head did dissipate. There is a reasonable coffee and burnt toast aroma but the flavour and mouthfeel let this one down. Definitie brackishness in the flavour which could be due to the water supply. A bit chewy even though it is a low ABV.

Black with brown head. Fresh spicy aroma of licorice and coffee. Fruity flavour with some sweetness and tones of coffee. Dry bitterness.

Bottled, thanks duff! Dark black with rich, but brief head. Vague fruity aroma. Light bodied and soapy, very dry. There’s some coffee and medium bitterness. A plain but fragile beer.

i couldn't get much beyond the novelty value of this one. very salty, a little balsamic vinegar, very thin and lacking guts. but the brewery itself is a great place
