Ungstrup (11385), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 15, 2006 [Draft at Ølbaren] A hazy deep red beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of hops and caramel, while the flavor has strong notes of both caramel and hops on a sweet background. The alcohol burns in the throat. I also tried it bottle, where it totally has lost its character - my guess is that the bottle is filtered and pasteurized - if that is the difference - then stop that. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden May 22, 2006 [Bottled at Købehavnske Øldage] Hazy pale brown. Malt dominated aroma. Sweet and full bodied with harsh salty flavour profile. The alcohol is well hidden in the raw sweetness, but so are the flavours. Medium bitterness. Papsoe (10551), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 26, 2006 (Bottle 66 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear, dark amber with a neat, lightly creamy off-white head leaving some laces. Aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Full-bodied with lots of caramel malt and extreme residual sugars. But the hop bite is a bit too unsophisticated and primitive with no single hop really standing out. As is it’s just plain bitter in a crude way. 240206 yespr (6943), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 1, 2008 66 cL bottle, ~2 years old. Pours slight hazy brown to red with a thick light brown and dense head. Aroma is caramel and brew mash, classic Gourmet aroma, faint trace of hops. Flavour holds a solid liqorice note, oily, solid caramel malt and leads into a strong bitterness. Slight woody and mildly oxidised finish. Mild alcohol presence in the far finish. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 16, 2006 Updated: May 29, 2006Draft.
Cloudy orange colored with a small off white head.
Aroma of malts, caramel and alcohol. Flavour of malts, caramel and dried fruits.
