3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - JUN 8, 2008
Corked bottle. Black color; creamy beige head. It has some aroma of roasted malt and vanilla, quite nice. It has a medium body strength, an acceptable mix of flavors (dark caramel, roasted malt, coffee, liquorice), complemented by the vanilla touch. The bitterness is ordinary. The final is probably the least interesting factor in this beer, missing structure and complexity. I can’t say that it’s bad, but it seems another confused attempt to hit the world current trend.

[thank you, myrup]
Pours deep black with a small, creamy brown head. Aroma is sweet, lightly roasted, quite surprisingly subdued oak. Okay mouthfeel, but not impressive. Flavour is lightly tart fruity, nice oak character, roasted malts and light chocolate. Not that impressive, fine, but underwhelming.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ThomasE (5176) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 29, 2008
Pitch black colour with a small dense brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with fruity vinous notes and hints of wood. Wellbalanced roasted and sweet flavor with fruity, chocolate sweet notes and a light coffee bitterness. Light alcohol and wood notes in the finish.

Super dark body with almost no head; Very intense vinous nose, super balanced with lots spicy earthy notes to back the "standard" Imp St aromas, a slight tar touch as well; Super intense body, bitter balanced sweet, very soft texture an no carbonation; Long finish that fades a little to fast, slight alcohol burn, again lots of earthy spicy aromas and a little tar, bitter bite. Great beer!

Blind tasting - hand bottled. Pitch black in colour with a small but dense brown head. Very well balanced and complex - notes of coffee, chocolate, dried dark fruits and a somewhat woody dryness. Also a hint of vanilla.
2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 lassem (639) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 23, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2008 A huge dissappointment - A barreltaste in a bottle (Did Sting write that) Paying 150 DKR (30 US$) you would have espected more. No body - no complexity and none of the things you normaly love about a good imperial stout.. absolutely nothing to back up the barrel-aging.
I poured my glass in the sink because of pure dissappointment.
