10th October 2009
Opaque black stout. Very light woody nose. Surprisingly light palate - a little crisp and a little dry. Light and lactose sweet malt. Both wood and whisky have a light touch. Finishes semi dry with some darker malt coming through and minerally whisky. Decent beer but not even close to justifying it’s ridiculous price. Good job there isn’t a value box here!

Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2012
Bottle at the RBESG 2012 Grand Tasting, London. Vintage 2006. Pours opaque black-brown with a medium tan head. Huge dark, ripe fruit nose with some chocolate notes. Very sweet flavor with tangy dark malts, mild roast, and chocolate syrup. Full bodied with fine to medium carbonation. Bit of warmth in the finish. Lingering roast with mild wood and oak notes, and plenty of mocha. Great stuff.

Bourbon and vanilla sweet aroma, hugely sweet. Slightly ashy body, but good grainy roast. Dry and a little unsatisfying.

humlelala (400) - DENMARK - OCT 2, 2011
(75 cl bottle from Torvehallerne) Pours black with rich toffee head and lace. Aroma is oak, roasted grain. No sign of oxidation in this 5 year old beer. The alcohol presence is pleasantly subdued also. Oily on the palate, full-bodied, soft carbonation with a short, dry finish. Smooth, rounded and harmonic from the aging. The taste is mostly dark, mildly sweet in the beginning and turning more dry and slightly bitter towards the end. Girlfriend says: "A nice rum taste. Very dark."
