COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: 200 bottles of 75 cl produced.

English: We brewed this beer in August 2007 with a lot of dark malts and molasses, fermenting it with lager yeast for over 3 months. While we were waiting we took a bourbon barrel aside and filled it with the beer straight from the fermenter. We put the barrel in a dark corner and left it until now.

Opaque black beer. Softish palate. Very tangy porter, the sourness hits you straight away. Then there is the rich malt and the undertone of molasses. Wood and bourbon come to the fore in the mid. A sour bourbon aniseed finish that leaves the taste buds tingling. Nice but just a bit too sour to be great.

Unausgereift. /8/9//8/8

bottle courtesy of papsoe, thank you for this rarity! nice overall brew. pretty much flat, and distictly tart. not a huge fan of soured dark beers, but this one was strangely drinkable, had a couple of snifters. nice tart cherry and oak profile, more muted malt profile, glad i got to try this one!

Bottled. RBESG 2010. Near black colour with faint head. Vanilla-ish silky smooth rounded nose, light bourbon and bitter chocolate. Light bodied for the style and abv, but slick (almost no Co2 at all), with notes of bitter chocolate, raisins, caramel, bourbon. Only suggestions of oxidation. Not boozy. Tasty but not complex.

Bottle. Pours black with a tiny beige head. Smells of oak barrels. Very sweet. Lots of vanilla aromas. Also aromas of figs, raisins and white chocolate. Hints of rugbrød. Tiny salty hints. Full bodied with a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Slightly cloying. Soft carbonation. Heavy, sweet, bourbony finish. Kinda unbalanced. ’bit too extreme.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. An oily pour producing a dark brown to black body under a minimal-sized off-white head laving some lacings. A bit weak on the nose I think, vanilla, some coffee and a little oxidation. Sweet, oaked flavor with a nice blend of chocolate, vanilla and cofffee. Some faint sour notes. Oily and full-bodied, slightly warming. Finishes pretty much as it starts. A nice beer, but sort of unusual. Can’t really deceide if I like it. 100409

It poured like soy sauce without any head, but it had a nice chocolaty smell, which went along with the chocolaty flavor that was balanced with a slight bitterness and hampered by some oxidation.

Big bourbon, coconut nose, lots of chocolate, molasses, roast and coffee. The taste is a big letdown. A trainwreck really. Acidic over roasted coffee, lots of dark chocolate, molasses, very sweet.

Bottle at RBESG Rome Grand Tasting. Black colour, no head. Aroma of oxidized fruits/raisins, madeira wine, hard roasted malts, chocolate. Flavour is light sour, fruity, chocolate, bitter light sour and hard roasted finish. Medium bodied. Nah..
