Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: 200 bottles of 75 cl produced.

English: We brewed this beer in August 2007 with a lot of dark malts and molasses, fermenting it with lager yeast for over 3 months. While we were waiting we took a bourbon barrel aside and filled it with the beer straight from the fermenter. We put the barrel in a dark corner and left it until now.

Bottled. A black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt, wood, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt, which also lends the beer a bit of acidity, combined with notes of wood and lighter notes of alcohol and vanilla.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours completely opaque pitch black with a tiny, tiny beige head that quickly dissipates. Tart woody nose with notes of raisins and prunes. Very low in carbonation., hard roasted malts, raisins and a little rum and wood with a fairly distinct underlying acidity. Subdued bitterness. Not sure what I expected, but this came somewhat surprising. 010509

LCRBM08: 75 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a fully gone head. Aroma is mild spiced and dense malty. Very wineous too. A nice and inviting aroma reallt. Spiced and winous flavoured with a solid fruity note lurking beneath - given how dry and roasted the original Winter Porter was, then it is clear how much fruity complexity the barrel has added. Sweet and fruity finish. Well done Mike!8-4-9-4-17=4.2

From bottle, Papsoes blindtasting #10. Pours pitch black with a light chocolate brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate and light tarish aroma - towards wooden too. Sweet, cherry citric and distinct roasted to winegrape flavoured. Citric and bitter flavoured, lasting fruity flavoured finish. Lovely.8-4-8-4-16=4.2

Bottle 75cl. @ chris_o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008.
Clear medium black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, wood, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. (020808)

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is sweet riped fruits, some roasted malts, alcohol and mild notes of vanilla. Flavour is sweey riped dark fruits, raisins, roasted malts. A nice balance but a bit too sweet. Might mellow up a bit if aged.

Bottle at LCRBM08. Very nice vanilla aroma. Black colour, no head. Distinct vanilla flavour, very citric. Not bad citrus note, but I would prefer it without that.
