4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the pub, December 2007. Ruby red (very dark) with no head. Oaky, bourbon aroma is huge, rounded out by caramel and toffee and a slight alcohol burn. Bourbon flavor is in your face along with lots of sticky toffee and mucho alcohol. Very syrupy palate. A big beer for sure, and the best of my visit.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Personal Milestone: Illinois Rating #800 (out of 4008) !!!!!
From the tap this pours an intensely dark brown body, nearly black, with a scrawny tan ring in place of a head. That’s soon gone. The aroma is strong on the Bourbon, which is okay with me since I used to drink lots of it. (Then the divorce was final.) There’s also some dark caramel and a burnt wood bitterness. Lots of Bourbon in the flavor along with caramel, toffee, oak, and alcohol. A very decent Winter sipper.
