COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2004 incarnation was simply named "DWB", with an ABV of 4.5%.

This style of German Weisse beer is very dark in color and full bodied. While there is very little hop bitterness, the flavors are rich and complex with a combination of sweet malt, banana and clove flavors dominating the style. A definite treat, perfect for the holidays. 5.5% ABV, 1.062 O.G., 22 SRM, 16 IBU

Wow, I really liked this for the style and was pretty good overall. Darker brown in color with a thin tan head that was quickly discipating. The nose was lots of different malts and dark fruits. The taste was strong with yeast, grains and barley ending strong with butterscotch. Of the beers tonight this I think had the most potential.

I was told that this was the same recipe as last year, but it seems to have gone through some changes. This beer was served as an opaque, deep mahogany/brown. If there was a head when it was poured, it absolutely disappeared before it got to me. Aromas were weak yet diverse with raisin, alcohol, earthiness and slight caramel. Yeasts emerge as it warms with banana and a touch of beef broth. Flavor is stale caramel with banana ending a little sour with a buttery finish. Comes across thin. Warming has a positive effect on aroma and flavor.

This wasn’t too great for the style... it needs a bigger body, a stronger malt presence and a wheat background to rest upon instead of being so overly-dependent on yeasts.

i took a sample of this and thought, "tasty cherry liquor." then i ordered a brew: dark, malty, sugary, chocolate and caramel mixed in. full of flavor, but suprisingly not that huge in body. i liked this, but it was too sweet i suppose. slightly medicinal, perhaps.
