I could really notice the alcohol in this one. Not an high ABV but present. Not really imp stout, but smoother and a tad thin.

Nice rich roasty aroma/... like from a chocolate smokestack/... but I want my damn Imperials/... blackety black/... My first and last ratings rap! This had a big smoky sweet nose but lost it after that. It was thin and watery. Nice aftertaste of whisky and bakers chocolate.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2004 Bourban cask aged (RAF): poured brown and cloudy.. i could see through it and im sick of that crap..especially in "imperial" stouts..what the hell..this also had an unattractive head of big fish egg-like bubbles but i attribute this to the gravity pour of the cask..the aroma was spicy whisky with chocolate covered raisins..the flavor was big chewy bourbon injecting ripe fruits with some added chocolate and an extra bourbon kick at the end..a very warming beer...

Sweet cherry alcohol aroma, small bits of chocolate, though a pleasant aroma, it was hard to find. . . Dark brown, small thin toupe head. Dark chocolate flavours with some sugary alcohol - pretty mild for 8.9%, missing the thickness and veinous qualities one would expect from an Imperial stout. Too much sugar and not enough fruit.

Chocolate/whiskey aroma. Very chocolatey malt flavor. Bourbon kicks in towards the end. Again , aging this type of beer in bourbon barrels does seem to provide a finish that drowns out the malt. Where is the fruit? Not very imperial.

Pours a light brown color and you could see right through it. The aroma was pretty nice. Roasted and malty. Creamy alcohol, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, a little oak and some coffee. Worth drinking, but not the best, to be sure.
