UPDATED: FEB 5, 2007 Growler: Advertised as a "smooth sweet doppelbock," this brew has some rough edges. Looks okay, a dark reddish mahogany with a skinny beige head. The big ABV is apparent throughout the experience. The aroma has bitter berries, midly sweet dark malt, and milk chocolate. All are present in the flavor but the berry bitterness increases. It finishes on a sharp bitter note comparable to crunching into a grape seed that you didn’t expect to find in your mouth. While the above doesn’t sound too bad, it all seemed put together crudely, somewhat unfinished. Things do not bode well for Govnor’s.

Pours a ruby/mahogany with a tan film & halo above. Strawberry & chocolate with rather hefty ABV apparent in the nose. Malty yet bitter flavor, a little sticky in the mouth. Alcohol remains forward and mutes the chocolaty flavor. Rather "blah". Although why they didn’t name this something like "The Govnorator", I’ll never know.
