May 7, 2008 Poured a dark mahogany color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of wild yeast, roasted malts, a bit of chocolate, citrus, and orange peel. Taste was chocolately, light roast, a bit of smoke, with some citrus, nuts, and a light tartness in the finish.

May 6, 2008 Served in my Orval glass. Lovely carob nose. Silky, chocolately, roasty character. Dark carob–cocoa malts, with flowery hops. Notes of bubble gum, sour oak, and vanilla. Dry finish. Smooth, balanced, and delicious.

May 6, 2008 Thanks to weeare138. Pours a deep brown with a medium bubbly/creamy light tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, oranges, mixed berries, lightly roasted notes and some vanilla/nuts. Flavor of roasted malts, lots of chocolate notes, berries, orange, light smoke and some nuts.

May 6, 2008 Deep brown colour with a tan head. Roasted malty aroma with a slight chocolate sweetness and hints of yeast. Burnt malty bitter flavor with light sweet notes.

pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head that settles quickly. aroma is a bit strange at first. some tart fruit berries i believe good chocolate adn some floralness like fresh flowers. no roast in this beer that i thought would be there. flavour is a fizzy smooth chocoalte, some tart and bright floral and hints at tart fruit again. very tasty and easy drinking a little lite in the finish but still agreat drinking beer.

Apr 27, 2008 Black. Thick cocoa-colored, creamy, sudsy head. Nice creamy chocolatey nose. Creamy and lovely rich and delicious mid-palate: smoke, liquorice, chocolate, roast. Mild, brief finish. Delicious.

Apr 26, 2008 Interesting beer and I wondered if there was a bourbon element but discovered it was the chocolate substitute which gives it almost a bakers chocolate flavor. Ever eat those bitter bakers chocolate bars before baking and think hmmm, how bitter? Imagine it in a beer with a decent alcohol kick, unintentional sour flavors and vegetables. The mouthfeel has decent carbonation and it looks nice and dark though. Bottle at River St. Ale house in Pittston, PA.
