Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Apr 21, 2009 Large bottle shared. Poured a murky brown with a huge light brown head. Aroma of funk, fruit, cocoa. Taste is a little more cocoa, with some tart funky fruit notes in the finish. Very interesting. As the bottle warmed, more chocolate was coming through. An interesting brew that isn’t my favorite, but isn’t bad either. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 13, 2009 Pours a muddy dark brown with a tan head. Smells sort of like a malted chocolate milkshake. Malty chocolaty taste with notes of vanilla and a weird herbal quality. An odd brew. Taste is slightly sweet olvalteen mixed with a saison funk that I can’t put my finger on. Oakes (8077), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 25, 2009 Light brown. Fairly hazy. Oaty nose with a funny herbal character. Lots of chocolate on the palate - sweet, sort of a sticky honey note. Overall, there are some fun oaty, chocolatey things going on but it fails to come together. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 22, 2009 A deep dark ale with reddish hues and thick creamy moka head. A pleasant aroma of chocolate, espresso coffee, and light cherries. In mouth, a nice sweet moka chocolate malt with cherry blossoms, smooth and silky, vanilla and nutella. Mamamia! On tap at Max’s on Broadway, Dec. 29 2008.
