LordCorkscrew (939), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Jun 8, 2008 Artebirra Pasturana 2008: senza dubbio alcuno la regina della manifestazione, chapeau. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA May 30, 2008 Dark brown with a thin lid of milk tan bubbles. Charred fruit, sweet aromatic woods, dark cherries, dates and a hint of creosote in the nose. Interesting, but not overly pleasant. smoke and ashes fill the mouth from the start. Some mild vinous qualities, I happen to be reminded of an old bottle of cab with a dry cork. Some nibs, elderberries and choke cherries also creep in. LIght soft palate. Very earthy and course. Hubajube (5), USA does not count May 29, 2008 Dark brown like you’d expect from the name, but the flavor isn’t as choclately dark, roasty, and rich as I’d hoped. There was a good bit of tartness in this one. pepsican (883), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA May 28, 2008 brown pour with a tan head. Chocolate and spice nose. Same flavor, some cola notes. Finishes thin, slightly boozy. hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 Filp top bottle shared by ’we-r-180’ or something or another. Taste was chocolately, light roast, a bit of smoke, with some citrus, nuts, and a light tartness in the finish. tiffanya (45), Federal Way, Washington, USA May 6, 2008 Served in my Orval glass. Lovely carob nose. Silky, chocolately, roasty character. Dark carob–cocoa malts, with flowery hops. Notes of bubble gum, sour oak, and vanilla. Dry finish. Smooth, balanced, and delicious.
